Christmas Needs

Please continue to help fill the Care Cupboard. We received a lot from Denise and Booth's Christmas party but it seems to go out as fast as we get it. There is just a lot of homeless and hungry people in Pensacola. We are negotiating with Appetite for Life in regards to their clients and Christmas presents. We are blessed. A Church That Cares

We delivered 18 Christmas shoeboxes to Olive Baptist church. We delivered 9 thanksgiving baskets to people in need. Please continue to fill the food pantry as we are at a low. We are feeding a lot of homeless people and giving them blankets and socks. We had people from the neighborhood at the thanksgiving dinner and the dinner was quite enjoyable with lots of new faces. Operation Shoebox, Gift Shop, and Turkey Baskets

Remember that your Christmas Operation shoeboxes need to be returned by November 18th. Your Turkey Baskets need to be returned by November 20th. Yard Sale, Operation Shoebox, and Updates

The Yard Sale was a great success. The Care Team is very thankful for the hard working volunteers Friday and Saturday. Please remember to have your Operation Christmas shoeboxes back to the church by November 18th. Kathy Raidy is still in ACU but is in stable condition, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Donna's (Stepanies's partner) mother needs your prayers as she isn't doing well. There is a sign up in the fellowship hall for what you might like to bring to Thanksgiving dinner at the church. There is also sign up to purchases pies, cakes, etc. from Excel of the Sand Dollar. The Care Ministry gift shop will reopen on November 18th, come one, come all. Be sure and spread your love around. Yard Sale Set Up and Take Down

WE NEED A LOT OF HELP FOR THE YARD SALE. IF YOU ARE ABLE PLEASE BE HERE AT 4 PM ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd, TO HELP SET UP,AS THERE ARE A LOT OF YARD SALE ITEMS THAT NEED TO BE TAKEN FROM THE WAREHOUSE TO THE GRAVEL PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF THE CHURCH. WE WILL OPEN UP AT 6 A.M. TO SET UP AND START SELLING AT 7 A.M. SATURDAY MORNING AND USUALLY WE ARE FINISHED BY NOON. AFTER THE SALE VOLUNTEERS WITH TRUCKS ARE NEEDED TO TAKE WHAT IS LEFT OVER TO THE WATERFRONT MISSION. WE HAVE TO CLEAR THE PARKING LOT FOR CHURCH ON SUNDAY. Care Requests

There is a link called Care Request under the Care Ministry. In the past it hasn't worked properly so the Care Ministry was unaware of requests received. Donna and Lorretta have worked and worked to get the request sent to the Care Ministry. It is now working so that if you have a need that we can help you with let us know by going to Care Request. Great Annual Yard Sale

You may start bringing items for the Great Annual Yard Sale from October 22 to November 2, 2007. Please bring you items from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., m-f. We have enough clothing. The Waterfront Mission and Loaves and Fishes will take your clothing. Please make sure what you bring to the yard sale is in good working order. We are in need of as many volunteers as possible. Pride Fest/Blessings of the Animals

The "Blessing of the Animals" was a great success. Thank you very much Dusty Joe and her dog fly ball team. It was fascinating to see the dogs jump and run. I have pictures of your animals, let me know if you want them and I will email them to you. Remember this is "Pride Fest" week. The Care Ministry, the Outreach Ministry, and the Bi and Bi ministry will have a display at Seville park starting at 10:00 a.m.on Oct 13th. Come out and support us. Off To Disney

I will be leaving for some R&R at Disney World on Sepember 28, 2007 and will return October 5, 2007. There are 10 of us going and I believe a good time will be had by all. "Blessing of the Animals"will be held on Oct 6, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. I learned yesterday that lots of treats are on the way.
Operation Shoebox will take off on October 7th. There will be materials set up in the fellowship hall and a cd playing explaining the operation.
October 13th, the church will have a booth at the "Pride Fest" starting at 11 a.m.

Kathy Raidy will be having surgery shortly and her cat knocked off her small tv in the bedroom. It broke the picture tube. Does anyone have a small tv she could borrow during her recovery?

Thank You Very Much

Thank you very much, you have blessed many as they will eat because of you. The "Feed the Lambs" box was full to the top.

Pet Blessing/New Yard Sale Area

Blessings

We are a blessed congregation. We are in the midst of transition and the Care Ministry hopes to have the gift shop up soon. We are planning for a Pet Blessing on October 6th and a Yard Sale on November 1. We have a lot of furniture to move from a house to the warehouse and I will be asking for volunteers within the next few days. Blessings and smiles, Miriam

Getting Ready

As Pastor Sandy has said many times lately the energy in the church is huge. I have felt that energy and find many people excited about our church dedication. We are still in need of 3lb or 5lb bags of cat or dog food. We have filled our pantry a lot but we are still in need of toothpaste, any canned foods, and our baby food on the shelf has expired so we need it replenished. ( Jar baby food and cereal.) We will be helping a lot of people in the future and I know our congregation is ready to do it. Blessings, Miriam

A Visit with Carmon

I visited Carmon this afternoon and found her to be in great spirits and looking very healthy. She has decided to have surgery and that will happen about the middle of September. She will go from the hospital to Covenant Hospice rehab. As soon as she has finished rehab she will come back to the home of Wade and James. She said to tell you she misses each and everyone of you. Feed the Lambs Sunday

The first Sunday of each month is designated as "Feed the Lambs" Sunday. Please consider bringing donations of non-perishable items. There will be a large box in the foyer for donations. Items such as canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, toiletries especially toothpaste are needed at present. Thanks for all that you do to help the community. Blessings and Smiles, Miriam

Blood Drive

Kudos to Melissa Featherstone for organizing the blood drive. We had 39 people who tried to give blood, 24 people who did give blood and 11 of those 24 were first time givers. The blood center told us that they had never had that many first time givers at a church in Pensacola. Blessings and Smiles, Care Minister, Miriam

We are in need of canned meats, macaroni and cheese, and canned fruits for the food pantry.

Common, everyday things sometimes take on special meanings. A handshake becomes significant when it brings two enemies together as friends. A kiss symbolizes love and commitment. A letter becomes a treasure when it is the last one from a loved one. A smile is electric, give one a way.

Carmon is at James and Wade's home and can be visited after one in the afternoon. Please call Miriam and get the number so you can call before you go. Wade told me that Carmon would enjoy fresh flowers.

Warehouse Cleaning and Straightening

It is really great to be in our new building. The love I felt and saw in the church on Sunday was awesome.

The Care Team will be putting together the gift shop for the sanctuary. We will be putting together a one stop shopping area in the warehouse,to include food, toiletries, and clothes for people in need. Hopefully we can accomplish this within the next two weeks.

We have had many donations recently that have to be moved like furniture and household items. We will announce for volunteers to help move items within a few days.

We will be announcing a yard sale soon and we will be accepting items.

Praises for Our Lord

Joey Bishop came through his surgery well and his shoulder has been repaired. He will be recovering at home for about 3 weeks.

My sister Joan and I have been sharing with each other since she arrived on Tuesday.

The food pantry is in need of meats, canned goods, and macaroni/cheese.

There is about a dozen loaves of rye bread in the freezer in the warehouse if you are in need.

Yvette went home from the emergency room last Sunday with follow-up appointments concerning her heart.

Thanks for Caring

I returned from Phoenix with a bit of bronchitis and waited too long to go to the doctor, thusly I spent almost 3 days in bed last week. Thank you very much for all the caring phone calls. As I write this blog many members of the congregation are in need of prayer and healing.

Tina Destafano's Mother passed. Please put Tina and Shawn along with the family in your prayers.
Cathy Raidy has heard disturbing news from her doctor and needs prayers for healing.
Karin Anderson's Mom needs prayer for healing as she is in the hospital.
Carmon has to have another brain operation and needs prayer to help with that decision.

There are lots of people who need our caring help. I will from time to time let you know what is going on in the Care Ministry.

1. Today Sheri Crooke needs your help in the way of furniture, pots and pan, dishes, etc. for her apartment.
